Location Is always Important  

Southern African Shipyards is located in Africa’s busiest port, the Port of Durban, on the East Coast of South Africa. The yard is strategically positioned at the northern extremity of the KwaZulu-Natal Southern Industrial Basin and is well supported by a wide range of complementary industries.

Southern African Shipyards  operations are of regional and national strategic importance as a major employer in the Steel and Allied Industries, import substitution and strategic supplier to the South African and NEPAD Maritime industry of vessels and specialist marine structures for ports and harbours.

Southern African  Shipyards is accredited with DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 and can manufacture and repair of large range of marine structures, such as tugs, container vessels, bulk carriers, tankers, patrol vessels, ferries .dredgers, trawlers, oil rigs and barges.

The company  also manufactures and repairs to IACS such as Lloyds Register, BV, DNV, ABS, NKK, and to the local SAMSA requirements.
