After a two weeks commissioning period, the first of the 70 tons bollard pull Voith Schneider Harbour Tugs was successfully delivered to the Port of Nqura in November 2009. During trails the South African designed tug exceeded the specified bollard pull by more than 10 tons and the speed by 1 knot.
Presently the construction hall is filled with six more tugs of the same class. In 2010 SAS will deliver two more vessels to Nqura and two tugs for Durban. The remaining two vessels will be handed over to the Ports Authorities in Richardsbay and Durban in February and May 2011.
